Written by Scath on January 31, 2009 – 10:47 pmFor all those who are looking for free reading material that’s guarenteed virus free, here’s what I currently have available:
- Shades of Gray: Contemporary tale of a young couple with marriage problems. Zipped PDF
- Tales from After: The zombie apocalypse did happen. So did some other rather unexpected things in Jazz’s life. Zipped PDF
- Playing for Keeps: Short short set in the After the Fall series. Zipped DOC
- Solo Mission: Flash fiction bit set in the After the Fall series. Zipped Doc
Those four are it at the moment, but you can always click over on Categories to find posts with more free to read excerpts, flash and short fiction. Code Walker is an installment story that’s still a work in progress. It’s listed under ‘Serial Indexes’.
I hope you enjoy them!

Shades of Gray
Written by Scath on June 7, 2008 – 9:09 amI’ve decided to make it available as a free e-book to see how the response goes. It’s a novella length story about a young couple with a troubled marriage, and contains some erotic content.
I received help from Jo and Miri in polishing this tale; Kate suggested the title, and Brad wrote a scene for the characters that he has kindly allowed me to include in the finished piece.
It was featured over at WMG Blogazine, and here’s what they had to say about it: “A story of raw intensity, passion and gripping hooks…”
Final word count is 19,676. File size (zipped PDF) is 170 KB.
I’ll add a free stuff page soon, but for now, you can download it HERE.

For the past five days, I’ve been completely held hostage to a couple whose marriage is on the rocks.
The kicker? They’re fictional characters. Seriously.
I was attempting to write a story for (NSFW) the Blue Room’s contest, Foreplay. LittleHelen gave the members four words to include in an erotic short; the words are: Tattoo, Coffee, Black and Chains.
I was three or four paragraphs into mine (predatory male picking up a woman in a coffee shop), but then was literally whomped over the head by the following:
