Like everyone else, I’ve spent a couple of years paying attention to what the ‘experts’ say you should do in order to be a success online.
Well, I got fed up with it yesterday and in the past 36 hours, I’ve deleted around 40 different accounts, many of them social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and more.
Since I was tweeting about it (and bitching about what kicked it off, heh), Kay Ballard of New Media Martini decided to interview me about it. You can listen to my Texan drawl as I repeat ‘Uh…’ a lot:
You know what? Social media bankruptcy, or more likely social media suicide feels GOOD.
Take my advice, even though I’m not an expert: pretend choosing social media sites is like buying a car. Test drive them. Get rid of the ones that make funny noises. Pick the one you feel most comfortable in and that will get good gas mileage.
You’ll enjoy the whole ‘social media’ experience a lot more. Promise.
